Will Won’t Fade

I needed a moment
To gather my thoughts
A breath
Taken in solace
To move to a different thread

I was lost in the storm
Braced against the winds
Of winter
And of momentum
To quell the building dread

Looking
For a change of phase
Searching
For a change of fate
Wishing
For a semblance of fair
Praying
That my will won’t fade

I took the step towards
The thing I feared the most
The eye
Staring me dark and down
Pushing me to brink

The match was struck
But would not light
My soul
Ignited the flame
Blinded, but did not blink

Finding
A change of phase
Pleading
For a change of fate
Demanding
A semblance of fair
Knowing
That my will won’t fade

I would have to agree the courage and determination are the strong voices in this poem …thanks for sharing this poem of strength.

  2. Wonderful words. I hear courage, I hear determination.
