U2: Glastonbury Lyrics – Frankfurt

Since there were several changes I thought it might be best to capture these as a separate entry.

Take me to that mountain green
You know up there I’ve never been
The drag is that attempts were made
A few distraction hits along the way

Pale as snow, a flowering rose, for a flowering rose I would bend my knee
I came to find the flowering rose, the flowering rose of Glastonbury

You. Are. The pocketful of sunshine
You. Are. The miracle I came here to find

Some things you just can`t control
Sometimes you just let it go

Harmony was heaven-sent
Our music was a sacrament
Took pilgrims on the mountain green
You know it but I’d never been

Pale as snow, my flowering rose, for a flowering rose I would bend my knee
I came to find the flowering rose, the flowering rose out of Glastonbury

You. Are. A pocketful of sunshine
You. Are. The miracle I came here to find

Down in the river where the pilgrims sleeping
Under the flower of the American dream (could this be ‘trees’ not dream?)
Senses safe like a thought worth keepin
Livin in a dream jeez you can’t be sleepin

You. Are. His blood was mine
Can’t let go oh
His blood was mine
You. Are. His blood was mine
Can’t let go oh
His blood was mine
Can’t let go oh
His blood was mine
Can’t let go oh
His blood was mine
Can’t let go oh
His blood was mine

Anybody know where you can download ‘Glastonbury’? Any version. I can’t wait for an EP, no patience here when it comes to U2! thx (r3moyer@comcast.net)

Oh nevermind..I heard the Turin version, different lyric. Kinda weird for him to sing a new song 2 different ways. Never heard him do that?

    • larrylootsteen says:

He certainly has been known to change things on the fly. Forgetful or inspired? Who knows?

    • ZooPony says:

It’s not unusual for Bono to change lyrics for a particular audience or whatever, or throw in a lyric from some other song (usually not one of theirs). Because it is a new song, and they’re trying it out with an audience, he probably wanted to see if it worked better another way. “North Star” didn’t even have a real ending!

Did he change “Glastonbury” again in Hannover?

      • larrylootsteen says:

No question he’s always willing to experiment. Especially since he often forgets the real words!! There were small changes in Hannover. The last run to the end of the song he used ‘It’s love I’ll find’ in place of ‘his blood is mine’ from Frankfurt and ‘a miracle I came here to find’ from Turin. I’m become more convinced that what I had thought is ‘Under the flower of American dream’ is actually ‘Under the flower of the miracle tree’. Thanks for your your thoughts and input!

A good part of your lyric to “Glastonbury” is a little bit off. I can get you the lyric if you want it. FYI
