Her Last Breath

The pale light of the moon
Seems vibrant beside her
The aura surrounds and engulfs
Cleansing her pure

Her breath is slow and steady
Despite the rasps and rattles
Her, the picture of calm
While I am left to grapple

Heart in tatters
Fears unbound
Answers yet to be found
Pleading for reprieve
Silence the only sound

Her body twisted raw
I am only desperate
A drip, her only friend
In a fog drenched respite

Her hand in mine
A squeeze, the comfort of flesh
I take my lips
To hers firm pressed

My love flows freely
No one more blessed
One final test
Her soul set free with
Her last breath
