Hope Denied

I keep looking for the line in the cloud
The one that says it’ll be okay
For a bolt out of the blue
That says that this is the way

I resist and reflect
Pushing further in the mire
Where’s the door, the exit
Out of this fire

The essentials are know
But just out of reach
A step or a hand
A lesson to teach
We beg, borrow, steal
For every moment we can
Waiting for the peace to come
While we keep making our stand

I wanted to know
But couldn’t ask
Why life is so wrong
Such a painful, confused task

I set the radar on send
And wait for the reply
The one that brings the honesty
And the hope we feel denied
