The Resonant Distance

A star field explosion
On a nebulous and breezeless night
Invokes the requisite introspection
With a dash of piqued sadness
And a whiff of self-immolation

The dust cloud expands apace
Scattered like my internal thoughts
Reflecting surrounding light
As quickly extinguished
As created, appeared

Dark matter and antimatter
Like it matters that I’m fractured
The expanse before me a void
Dark, bitter and indistinguishable
A definition of man, this man

As gravity takes control
And the various bits reassemble
Not as before but still structured
No resemblance nor coincidence
Across this resonant distance

Lights stains the carcass
Will there be a price for exposure?
The ultimate meaning
Devoid of understanding invokes chaos
At this resonant distance
