The Black Hour – Vacuity

Watch/Listen here:

As you have heard from me recently, Vacuity is a local Kitchener/Waterloo indie band whose music I have taken a shine to.Their new album drops June 26, 2012. This first single is the title track from their new album The Black Hour. You can download the track for free here.

Lyrics here, more below:
Keep, keep up your pace
Cause the darkness is creepin’ in
The dusk fog
It ever hedges in

So keep, keep up your head
Don’t tire now child
Now that life has gotten real
Don’t tire now child
Cause what we own is what we steal

Following the dusk
The weight rubs your shoulders
Yeah, they’re raw and they’re broken
But its your weight
And with time you’ll love it
Its your burden
And you’ll learn to lug it

So keep, keep your sleeves
Cause your black hour is creepin’ in
With everything you’ve owned
And everything you’ve been

So keep, your feet to the road
Despite the weight of, of this load
Cause every penny spent
Is surely not every penny owed

Following the dusk
The weight rubs your shoulders
Yeah, they’re raw and they’re broken
But its your weight
And with time you’ll love it
Its your burden
And you’ll learn to lug it

So keep, your sights on the far
You’ve got a long way still to go
Just as you’re giving up
That’s when the wind will start to blow…

I’ve probably listened to this song thirty times by now. I get something out of it every time. I find myself wandering around and find ‘your black hour is creepin in’ blowing through my mind over and over. Between the guitar work, a great bass line and some stellar drumming, mixed with those great effects, it’s one of those songs that gets in your DNA a little more with each play.

If you know me, you know I love a great lyric and I’ve already stated how this stuck in the mind. The story here is about having strength. A willingness to keep moving forward. perseverance. Shit’s going to happen and it will punch you in the gut, knock you down and pummel you. The question is whether you will get up. And you will get up and move forward. You may feel like you have nothing left but that spark comes and lights the fire to expose the road you need to follow.
